Sedentary Lifestyle: How to Move More?
Health and fitness remain among the top wellness trends of 2025.
It’s no secret that regular physical activity plays a key role in both physical and mental well-being. However, not everyone has the time or energy for full workout sessions.
Here are some simple tips to help you move more, even if you have a sedentary lifestyle:
Incorporate Movement Into Your Day
Look for small ways to be more active: take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther from your destination, or walk instead of taking public transport for short distances—weather permitting, of course.
Daily Walks
If you work from home, schedule short breaks throughout the day. Set reminders and go outside for at least 30 minutes. Fresh air walks help lift your mood and reduce fatigue.
Morning Stretch or Workout
Start your day with a short workout. Even 10 minutes of stretching or light exercise can have a positive effect on your body. Try holding a plank for a minute each day. Any physical activity, no matter how small, provides your body with the energy it needs.
Online Workouts
Home workouts are a great way to stay in shape and give yourself a mental break. Many trainers and fitness studios now offer online classes that are easy to follow from your living room.
Use Fitness Apps
Download mobile apps that help you track your workouts and health stats. These tools can keep you accountable and boost your motivation to stay active.
Wear a Fitness Tracker
Aim for 10,000 steps a day—a target recommended by the World Health Organization. WHO suggests taking between 6,000 and 10,000 steps daily to maintain a basic level of physical activity.
According to the classification of physical activity levels, taking fewer than 5,000 steps per day is considered a sedentary lifestyle.
