How a hot bath affects metabolism

A hot bath can be a great way to not only relieve stress, but to activate metabolism. Let’s find out how this pleasant procedure affects the metabolism and in which cases it is worth restraining from.

The benefits of a hot bath

More recently, the discussion about how often to take a hot bath was very sharp. One part of the experts argued that this procedure isneede no more than once a week, the other claimed that there would be no harm if you bath several times a week. And here the dispute is resolved by simple evidence:

  • a hot bath improves immunity;
  • activates metabolism;
  • helps to lose weight;
  • improves mood;
  • effective at the first sign of a cold.

Nutritionists are surprised, but the effect of spending in water at a temperature of 39 degrees is equivalent to playing sports, because ina short period of time, about 140 calories are burned. And doctors confirm that a hot bath reduces glucose in blood, which leads to a quick breakdown of fats and boosting metabolism.

Чтобы ванна принесла пользу, необходимо соблюдать некоторые правила. Например, нельзя принимать ее сразу после плотного обеда или ужина. Организму необходимо минимум полчаса на интенсивное переваривание пищи, и повышение температуры тела на этот период «отвлечет» его от основного задания.

Так же после ванны необходимо принять душ. Это кажется странным, но всему есть объяснение. Дело в том, что горячая вода размягчает эпителий – верхний слой кожи, и некоторая часть клеток безболезненно смывается водой. Поэтому душ с массажной мочалкой сразу после горячей ванны нужен для пилинга кожи, после чего она станет нежной и шелковистой.

Also, after a bath you need to take a shower. It seems strange, but there is an explanation for everything. The fact is that hot water softens the epithelium – the upper layer of the skin, and some of the cells are washed off painlessly with water. Therefore, a shower with a massage washcloth immediately after a hot bath is needed to peel the skin, after which it will become soft and silky.

When is it better to restrain from hot baths

Indeed, there are times when a hot tub is not appropriate. Of course, it will not be beneficial if you take it every day. However, as already mentioned, 2-3 times a week will be a completely normal frequency of taking a hot bath. Indications for a complete rejection of this procedure may be chronic inflammation and problems of the cardiovascular system.

Some doctors say that a maximum bath time of 40 degrees should be no more than five minutes. However, new studies show that it is not necessary for a healthy person to adhere to such a strict norm.
