The magical properties of raisins

Raisins takes lace of honor among dried fruits. It is made of special grape varieties which berries do not contain seeds. Dried grapes can be stored for years without losing their useful properties. The history of raisins dates back at least five thousand years, and almost every housewife has her favorite variety.

How the raisins are made

Grapes are dried, usually in the same place where it grows, under the scorching sun for about two to three weeks. The main producers of goodies are the countries of Asia, where climatic conditions allow not only to grow sweet and rich grapes, but also to dry it in the fresh air. All these factors allow you to save maximum nutritional value of raisins, vitamins and minerals.

Artificial drying, which takes place in some countries, really provides a long shelf life, but, unfortunately, does not provide the benefits that are present in naturally dried grapes. Therefore, one should ask how raisins were prepared, because the most dubious sort is the one that looks the most attractive. You can check the raisins on your own – toss a berry into the air and listen to what sound it falls. Real raisins dried under the sun will fall like a small stone, soft and juicy berries will most likely indicate a fake.
