Prevention of varicose veins: useful tips
By evening, the legs are heavy, and your favorite shoes begin to tighten? Perhaps these are the first signs of varicose veins – a typical problem of modern people. Find out why varicose veins are increasingly attacking young people and how to recognize it in time.
Causes
Every year, varicose veins become younger. Today it is not only a question of the elderly. One of the problems in diagnosing varicose veins is that in the first stages it is practically not noticeable. As a rule, the problem becomes apparent at the stages when changes in the blood vessels occur. Therefore, to recognize that leg fatigue is not just fatigue, but a possible symptom of the onset of varicose veins, it would be nice in the early stages to start prevention or treatment.
Varicose veins are accompanied by changes in the structure of blood vessels, which leads to circulatory disorders. Most often we are talking about varicose veins of the legs, when the blood stagnates in the veins and, thus, the general blood flow is disturbed.
The branch of medicine responsible for problems of veins and arteries is called phlebology. Both vascular surgeons and phlebologists themselves are involved in varicose veins operations. However, most of the problems that arise in the initial stages can be solved by prevention at home. But, as already mentioned, if the problem becomes visible, this is the reason to contact a specialist.
The first signs of varicose veins may be leg fatigue towards the end of the working day, manifested in a feeling of heaviness and discomfort. It is also worth paying attention to small cramps, if they appear, or unpleasant pain in the calves. Causes of occurrence are often associated with lifestyle:
- wearing high heels;
- professional risks of athletes;
- sedentary lifestyle;
- sedentary work;
- professional activities (hairdressers, teachers, waiters and many others).
Prevention of varicose veins
But even if your activity is not included in the above risk group, foot prophylaxis should be dealt with in any case. To avoid problems, do the following:
- Follow a diet. The diet should have as many fruits and vegetables as possible, as few smoked and salted foods as possible. Nutritionists do not recommend spicy foods, because of it, the blood “thickens”. By the way, nations that do not consume animal protein are not at all familiar with such a thing as varicose veins.
- Lead an active lifestyle. All kinds of activities help to disperse the blood and prevent it from stagnating in the legs: long walks, slow running and all kinds of sports.
- Do not abuse hot bathrooms. Here, experts include the maximum rejection of sunbathing and saunas, which reduce venous tone.
- Do not wear tight clothing or shoes. Skinny jeans and tight boats are not the best way to maintain overall health. Nevertheless, clothes and shoes should be comfortable and not exert pressure on the body.
- Try everyday dousing legs with cold water. This method perfectly tones blood vessels and relieves swelling and fatigue.
Try these simple methods of prevention and let your legs always be in good shape!
