The Method of Positive Questions: A Technique That Can Help Change Your Life for the Better
The method of positive questions — known as Afformations — was developed by Ph.D., speaker, and author Noah St. John.
Instead of using traditional positive affirmations, which the mind often resists believing, he suggested asking yourself positive questions. According to him, this technique can help transform your life for the better.
The essence of Afformations lies in asking yourself empowering questions, the answers to which can reprogram your brain.
This method invites your subconscious into a dialogue, prompting your brain to generate positive responses. By asking yourself the “right” questions, you begin to reprogram your reality and shift your mindset toward positivity.
The technique is simple: instead of asking yourself habitual negative questions, start asking positive ones.
For example, instead of “Why can’t I become wealthy?” or “Why am I so unhappy?”, try asking:
-
“Why am I so happy, healthy, and wealthy?”
-
“Why is what I want already present in my life?”
…and so on.
When a person asks a positive question, the brain seeks a matching answer. That’s why it’s important not to focus on negativity — instead, try shifting toward a positive mindset.
The answers often come through life events, situations, or new ideas.
Every person already has what they need to achieve their goals — all the necessary resources are within. It’s a matter of directing your focus properly and remembering that happiness is an internal state.
“You create your reality not only through the statements you say to yourself and others, but also through the questions you ask yourself and others.” – Noah St. John
