World's First Museum of Happiness Opens in Denmark
The first-ever Museum of Happiness has opened its doors in the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
Officially launched on July 14, the museum is located in a cozy 240-square-meter space. It features exhibits and interactive experiences that explore how different countries and cultures define and pursue happiness across time.
The initiative comes from the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, known for studying what makes some societies feel more content than others.
“We weren’t sure how many visitors to expect, especially these days, but the world truly needs more happiness. So we thought — why not create a place where people can experience it,” said Meik Wiking, founder and CEO of the museum.
Visitor feedback helps the institute further its studies on the science of happiness.
“We might be Danish, Mexican, American, or Chinese — but first and foremost, we are human. The same things bring us joy, no matter where we’re from. I hope visitors realize that while exploring the museum,” Wiking adds.
Denmark consistently ranks among the top happiest countries in the world.
