Time Management: Effective ways to manage your time
Powerful and effective time management is one of the most important skills that you can acquire in life. The truth is that time is the greatest equalizer in life. No matter who you are, how old you are, what income you have, gender, race or religion, you have as much time as any other person. But it’s not about how much time you have, it’s about how to effectively manage it.
If you do not want to become one of the 92% of people who cannot achieve their long-term goals, then you need to pay attention to how you spend your precious time. The key factor in this process is balance. To achieve it, it is worthwhile to create your own time management system.
1. Set your goals correctly:
– Reduce the number of goals. Define for yourself several priority goals that you plan to achieve in a certain time, for example, in three months or a year.
– Define a key goal. That goal, the pursuit of which supports your other, secondary goals.
– After determining the main goal, answer yourself: why is it important for you to achieve this particular goal?
– Visualize goals. A picture in your subconscious will better stimulate you to achieve what you want.
2. Find a good time management system
An effective system is one of the most important factors for the successful management of personal time. The main function of any system is to teach you to remember and store important information regarding the achievement of your goals. Most popular systems: David Allen’s GTD system; Time Managament from the Inside Out by Julia Morgenstern; Brian Tracy’s Time Power; Franklin Time Management System popularized by Stephen Covey ;
3. Analyze your schedule
Throughout the week, evaluate how you spend your regular day and what you spend time on. At the end of seven days, count all the numbers and determine what you spent the most time on and how efficiently.
4. Morning for important tasks
Solve your most important tasks in the morning. This will give you the most powerful impetus to spend all day efficiently.
5. Try to follow the 80-20 rule
Rule 80-20, also known as the Pareto principle. This rule states that roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. In sales, this also means that 80 percent of sales come from 20 percent of customers. Cunning? Define 20 percent of the efforts that produce 80 percent of the results, and scale them. You can do this with careful tracking and analysis.
6. Identify key habits
Key habits not only help encourage other good habits, but also help eliminate bad habits. Focus on key habits and you will be much better at managing your overall time, greatly simplifying the development of habits.
7. Schedule time for distractions.
Allowtime to work with email and social networks so you don’t get distracted by this throughout the day.
8. Take frequent breaks
One study suggests that after every 52 minutes of work, you need to take a break of 17 minutes. If this is a luxury for you, then at least take short breaks.
9. Meditate or exercise every morning.
Meditation and exercise in the morning will allow you to balance your energy and concentration.
10. Make To-Do Lists
Every night before going to bed, make a to-do list for the next day. Compare this list with your goals and determine how you are approaching your desired results. Successful achievement of daily goals helps us move towards the most important goals. But this happens by creating to-do lists.
11. Motivation
If on the way to the goal you lose strength and inspiration, you need to find a source of motivation. For this are suitable films or books with success stories of people who have achieved more than you.
12. Disable social media app notifications
Continuous notifications from social network applications distracts you and take time. Visit the network at specific times to better focus on your tasks.
13. Organization – your second “I”
Studies have shown that the mess in our routine induces us to lose focus. When we lose focus, we lose time. If you want to avoid this, do everything in sequence, do not do everything at once. As a result, your organization will help you achieve your goals.
Time management is an art that will help you become successful and achieve your goals.
