Food Diary: Instructions for a new life
One of the main factors that affect the quality and duration of our life is healthy nutrition. This term includes not only quality of foods in your diet, but also planning and discipline in the nutrition system. To do this, you will need a food diary that will help you to keep an accurate calorie count and control weight.
The principles of keeping a food diary
To get started, you have to define the diary format: electronic or paper. This is very important because the diary must be always with you. For example, you can take a quick meal on your journey to work or unexpectedly attend some event with a buffet and forget to write down consumed calories due to the lack of a diary.
Your day must start not from a cup of coffee, but from noting your body weight into diary, later you will need to write down in detail everything that you had on breakfast (calories and the amount of each product or ingredients in grams). Similarly, you need to write down all subsequent meals and physical activity throughout the day (ascents and descents on the stairs, walks with your pet and other movements or stops). Exercise tracking can help you calculate your intake and expenditure of calories.
Special attention should be paid to the place where you eat. If you eat in front of computer or TV, you may miss a signal of satiety from your body and it will lead to overeating.
At the end of every day and week sum up the results about your weight and make a report on amount of calories (both intake and expenditure). This will allow you to choose the perfect diet, decide the right amount of food, learn to understand and feel your body.
It is very important to keep a diary with pleasure, if you constantly push yourself to make it, you will probably forget about it soon. If it is boring just to write down your food, you can add to diary your thoughts and emotions, which you have during breakfast or supper. This will help you analyze how your appetite changes depending on your mood. You may notice that you eat many treats during stress.
The body of every particular person is unique and picking up suitable nutrition system can be quite challenging. That is why you need a diary, it will help you rectify your daily meal, improve health and enjoy life.
