What Quarantine and Self-Isolation Taught Us: 7 Important Lessons
The global Covid-19 pandemic changed life around the world: we all had to live by new rules, adapt to changing conditions and circumstances, face challenges, and—most importantly—learn to enjoy life in a new way despite many restrictions.
Mindfulness
During quarantine, we learned to stop postponing life for “later,” to appreciate the simple and important things we have in the here and now, to value the process instead of obsessing over results, and to listen to ourselves.
We finally realized that every moment is life itself, and “now” is the best time to do what we’ve been putting off.
Challenges
Quarantine taught us to be more flexible and responsive to changes, to focus on self-development and self-reflection, to accept life’s challenges, adapt, and implement plans without delay—to act quickly and decisively.
We all needed to “slow down” in order to understand where we’re going and how best to move forward.
Time Management
Quarantine forced us to adapt to a new work format and learn how to plan not only our work but also our personal time. This helped maintain productivity, use our energy resources efficiently, delegate responsibilities, and strike a healthy balance between work and personal life.
Healthy Habits
In these new conditions, we began to pay more attention to routines and healthy eating. We discovered the benefits of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day—even on weekends. Many of us also found more time to read regularly.
Physical Activity and Self-Discipline
In the limited conditions of quarantine, we turned to home workouts via online training, and began to truly value morning and evening runs, as well as simple walks in the park.
Inspiration
The new lifestyle gave us more time for ourselves and our hobbies—to do things that truly inspire us. Creativity became a source of energy, a way to cope with strong emotions, release negativity, and relieve stress.
New Values and Resources
We began to appreciate real, in-person communication with friends and family more than ever.
These new life circumstances prompted us to reflect and realize what really matters, and which direction to grow in to live a happier, more meaningful life.
